The Rotary controller board is used to read linear scales and encoder inputs and to generate control signals for stepper motor drivers.

It is usually paired with a servo motor controller or a stepper motor controller.

The board comes tested and programmed by us with the latest stable version of the firmware.

We provide a handy SIP connector with all the signals easily accessible for future debugging or firmware updates. The current version of the board requires the end user to have an ST-Link V2 compatible programmer when it comes to firmware updates.

The board comes configured with our default MODBUS address 17 and a connection speed of 115.200 baud for the serial link.

This board is what we use for DRDRO, but it can be definitely used for a variety of applications including PLC controllers.

The communication between the host controller and the board uses MODBUS RTU and all the addresses are documented in the firmware source code available in our Github account.

The power supply required by this board is 7-40VDC and the power supply polarity is indicated in the silk screen next to the power input connector. The power consumption without external scales or stepper controller boards attached to it is >100mA.

All the control logic, ramps generation, and synchronized motion control loop are executed within the STM32 microchip, and they run at 100Khz.
